Cure Cancer Classic Reaches $2 Million Milestone in 20th Anniversary Year

The Cure Cancer Classic (CCC), North America’s largest independent Hockey Fights Cancer fundraiser, is thrilled to announce a remarkable milestone: over $2 million raised to date in support of cancer research. This achievement is especially meaningful as CCC celebrates its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of dedication, community involvement, and impact.

The latest event run by CCC, this season's Queen’s Classic Tournament, held on November 22-23, played a pivotal role in reaching the $2 million mark. The event, which brought together 180+ Queen’s University students, set a new fundraising record by generating $117,000. With the support from the Canadian Cancer Society, all donations to CCC are matched dollar for dollar, effectively doubling their impact and directly supporting life-saving research at the Canadian Cancer Trials Group.

Since its inception in 2005 as a class project, CCC has evolved into a cornerstone of community impact at Queen’s University. Looking ahead, CCC is excited to continue its mission and expand its impact with two more major events this year: the Commerce Classic on January 17-18, which brings business schools from across Canada to compete, and the iconic Commerce vs. Engineering Rivalry Game on March 13. Both events provide opportunities to unite communities in the fight against cancer while pushing CCC closer to its next fundraising milestones.

The $2 million milestone would not have been possible without the generosity and support of countless donors, players, sponsors, and community members who have contributed over the years. The CCC team extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has played a role in this journey.
